How to help while shopping online with SHOP RAISE

As you may have heard, Amazon Smiles ended their program months ago.
GREAT NEWS “SHOP RAISE” comes to the rescue

CLICK HERE ShopRaise Landing Page for Animal Enrichment Systems https://shopraise.com/support/animalenrichmentsystems

We found a great replacement, Shop Raise which is free to use that donates a portion of every purchase to our nonprofit (you can just type in Animal Enrichment Systems, or any charity name in the search area) . Shop Raise has a list of 100’s of popular merchants (Walmart, Home Depot, Chewy, Lowes, etc)

You set up an account (you will be a “supporter”), download the ap on your phone or deskop and choose from the list of merchants.    Animal Enrichment systems will get a check each time the percentage of donations hit $50.  You get an email saying thank you for supporting your cause.

Our newest Environmental Enrichment project – Spider Monkeys!

We are working with Dr. Darby Proctor & Dr. Kate Talbot, professors in the School of Psychology at Florida Tech, and software engineer Jayden Cammarata to develop a first-in-kind, low-cost, computerized testing apparatus for the spider monkeys at Brevard Zoo. The apparatus will allow the spider monkeys to play cognitive “games” using a touchscreen and receive small treats for correct choices. Scientists can evaluate how the monkeys perform on these games to learn more about how they think and make decisions. Cognitive and behavioral testing provides monkeys with mental stimulation and is considered a form of enrichment since it occupies their time and helps monkeys stay engaged with their environment.

Brevard Zoo Bear Birthday Bash!

We visited Brevard Zoo on Saturday to celebrate their bear birthday bash! All three of their Florida black bears are estimated to have been born around this time of the year. Beautiful Cheyenne was napping. Baby Betty Bear and Brody were playing and enjoying all their snack filled enrichment.

Critter Cart Update

Critter Cart

This is a photo of the main control card that will become the brains of the EED (environmental enrichment device). Once completed, this will control the shower, feeder, fan and music features. The aviary cart will now be called “Critter Cart”. This is being built for ZooTampa and can be wheeled throughout the zoo.

Sound test today. The speakers are in, and the bird chirp sounds work. There is still more work to be done. We are happy that the all the intricate wiring in the control panel “brains” works! We are designing/building this Environmental enrichment device (EED) for ZooTampa
